Matthew Johnson is a poet, editor, and publisher; he is the author of the poetry collections, Shadow Folk and Soul Songs (Kelsay Books), Far From New York State (New York Quarterly Press), and the chapbook, Too Short to Box with God (Finishing Line Press).

Among selected journals, Matthew's poetry has appeared or is forthcoming in African American Review, Front Porch Review, Heavy Feather Review, Jerry Jazz Musician, The London Magazine, Maryland Literary Review, Maudlin House, New York Quarterly, Northern New England Review, Roanoke Review, The Sport Literate, The Westchester Review, Up the Staircase Quarterly, and elsewhere. 

He is the managing editor of the independent and regionally-themed, literary magazine, The Portrait of New England, and the poetry editor of the baseball-themed journal, The Twin Bill. He is a member of the writing networks: The North Carolina Writers Network, the Hudson Valley Writers Guild, the Connecticut Poetry Society, and the New England Poetry Club. 

He is also the official poet of the Tony Kornheiser Show.
